DKK Co., Ltd (HQ: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, CEO: T. Kondo) and Cybercore Co., Ltd. (HQ: Morioka, Iwate CEO: Y. Tamaki)with the cooperation of JR East Morioka Branch Office, conducted a demonstration experiment of passenger flow survey (hereinafter referred to as “the survey”) in a JR Station using AI based video analysis technology with the aim of improving DX of the flow survey.
In this study, we utilized video footage from five cameras installed in the station to verify the video analysis technology using Cybercore’s BehaveEye® behavioral analysis solution and ReID technology.
BehaveEye’s behavior analysis function within an arbitrary area and Cybercore’s specialized ReID (person re-recognition) function across cameras make it possible to analyze the paths of the same person with different cameras.
This project aims to realize a more comfortable station environment by analyzing passenger entrances (train platforms and turnstiles) and exits (train platforms and turnstiles), thereby reducing congestion, optimizing station facilities, and improving passenger safety. ReID technology to identify the same person across different cameras is indispensable for this.
In addition, there is a high need for analysis by edge devices from the viewpoint of personal information protection, and Cybercore’s BehaveEye® and HI (Hardware Implementation) technologies can contribute in this regard.
